For the 2010-2011 school year, teachers in grades 3-6 on my campus will receive interactive whiteboard technology for their classrooms, including the whiteboard, projector, laptop, and docking station. For this same school year, both improvement in student achievement in science to garner an Exemplary rating and ongoing professional development for technology have been identified as critical campus needs.(Schellhorn, 2010) The district is still in the initial stages of integrating interactive whiteboard lessons into the science curriculum, and has encouraged science teachers to participate in development and sharing of lesson templates. In light of these circumstances, my study will attempt to answer the following question: In what ways does the creation of a professional learning community affect the integration of interactive whiteboard technology into science instruction at Wilshire Elementary? My detailed action research plan can be viewed at: http://jitrblog.blogspot.com/p/jitr-in-action.html Works Cited: Schellhorn, C. (2010). I think you pose an interesting question-it seems that a PLC would encourage effective white board integration, but I suppose it will depend on the interest level of the teachers. I will be interested to know if the age/experience level of the teachers has a bearing on their willingness to incorporate the new technology. Hopefully, if there is a mix of novice/experienced teachers, they will share strengths via the whiteboard lessons. But you may have to offer some encouragement to some in order to get them to break out of their comfort zone! And maybe some private tutoring to help some of the more reluctant ones keep up.
Interactive white boards are posted into the science and math class. Its amazing that technology have progress over time. Improving of standardized test scores will increase over a period of time because of the interaction that the students will have with the context. Can't wait to see the conclusion of your plan.

I was told that a select few would get interactive white boards in our district this year. Your research project sounds interesting. Good luck
